Simple Strawberry Protein Smoothie

This has been my go-to post workout treat and the best thig is how easy it is! For a filling smoothie that has at least 25g of protein here's what you need:

1 Cup cubed ice with (plus an inch or two of water)

1 scoop protein powder

1 Greek yogurt

1 cup frozen strawberries

That's it. Blend together and enjoy! Substitute different flavors protein powder, yogurt, and different fruits to keep it interesting! Also, I only use one scoop of protein, with two this smoothie would have close to 40g of protein!

New Years Pinspiration

I am hopeful. I am thankful. Hopeful for what wonderful things 2014 will hold and thankful for all the blessings of 2013. Yes, I made resolutions, goals, and have dreams for the year ahead. Not to publicize of "check off" a list, but for myself. This is the year I want to become a better version of myself, for myself. No one else. So my excitement may spill over into this blog as I accomplish things, but for now, here is some pretty encouragement I'm dwelling on in this new year.

Snow Day Steals

Goodwill is my therapy. hobby. addiction. whatever you'd like to call it. Sometimes I don't find much, but the times I did treasures keep me coming back. Yesterday was the perfect snowy day to spend the afternoon sorting through ugly sweaters and 90s mom jeans to find these gems. 

I found Michael Kors and Jcrew sweaters and Simply Vera and American Eagle jeans for under $20!

Thrifting at Home Goods

I am obsessed with all things metallic and sparkly this holiday season. While at Home Goods the other day I stumbled upon the perfect wreath for my entryway mirror. only problem was the styrofoam base was broken. After picking apart the entire store for another, I had a lightbulb moment. Duh Alyssa, I could just hot glue this at home and have a perfectly functioning wreath! As I checked out I explained my dilemma and asked if I could get a discount for it being broken. Originally $14.99 (which I thought was a bargain to start with) I paid $7.00!! SUCCESS. 

So My little take home tip is, if you are shopping and notice damage on an item clothing or otherwise that you think you could fix at home, don't be afraid to ask for a discount! Chances are the item won't sell otherwise so they'll be happy to comply! Stay thrifty ladies!

My Best Friend's Wedding (Take 3)

Octover 26th was the big day of my dear friend Hannah. Introduced through a mutual friend at 16, this girl became my college roomate for 4 years and my sanity though nursing school. Now we are nurses at the same hospital and practically neighbors. Her big day was so perfect and I know she and her new hubby will do great things together.

My wedding was 6.16.12 and in a span of 16 months my three very best friends who stood by my side on that day have become Mrs. and invited me to stand by their side. I am so blessed by these lifelong friendships.
